We met nine years ago while each beginning our own fitness journey after having our first children. What started out as a friendship, turned into a working relationship as well. After working together for many years life took us our separate ways for a while. We had always had the vision of starting our own fitness business, and the timing was never right... until NOW!
Hello! My name is Dawn and I am co-owner and trainer at WAKE Fitness. I truly believe that fitness is for EVERYONE and that fitness can meet you on your level… wherever that may be! I also believe that we all have room to grow. Starting out where you are, and allowing yourself room to progress will lead to a healthier relationship mentally, and physically with fitness.
In one way or another, I have been involved in sports/fitness my whole life. As a kid, I played sports and as I grew up I realized that I wanted to be involved in sports/fitness as a career. I received a B.S. in Athletic Training from Springfield College and an M.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. I worked as an athletic trainer for many years before making the switch into group fitness, and I am also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
In my own journey with fitness, I didn’t really get serious until after I had my boys. I didn’t start running until I was 30, and I can say with confidence that I have been in the best shape of my life these past few years. Although I have dealt with many injuries over the years, I have continued to make fitness work for ME, so that I am able to continue to see myself progress.
Besides staying active, I love to spend time with my family; my husband and twin boys. When able, we love to travel and visit amusement parks. We also LOVE to go bowling!
Hi, I’m Charlotte, co-owner and trainer here at WAKE Fitness! I believe that physical exercise is therapy for the mind, body and soul. I discovered fitness as an adult and I am a true believer that it is never too late to start on your fitness journey!
I am an ACE certified personal trainer and have been teaching group fitness classes for the past 8 years. Before becoming a fitness instructor I was a social worker, specializing in addiction treatment. While social work and fitness training don’t seem to go together, being a social worker taught me how to be a good motivator and coach. My favorite thing about being a coach is watching my clients put in the work to reach their goals, then celebrating their accomplishments! When I’m not training I’m being mom to my 2 girls, wife to my husband Sam, and running… a lot. Remember. we are all in different places on this fitness journey, and long as you keep your body moving, you are headed in the right direction. I can’t wait to train with you!
